Usually La Liga season start in the last week of August and 2014-15 season was started on Saturday, 23 August 2014. But since Euro 2016 is scheduled for summer 2016, Spanish FA has announced that la liga season will start 1 week ahead of the usual date to make sure season end couple of weeks ahead of the normal finish.

The new season of La Liga is beginning from 23 August 2015. Former champions Atletico Madrid will begin the competition with opening game against Las Palmas. The club is promoted from Segunda Division. Same format will be used which means winning team will get three points and one point for draw. Given below are the fixtures.

Benitez will bring his new-look side to Sporting Gijon's El Molinon stadium on the opening day, while Malaga invite Sevilla to La Rosaleda for an Andalucian derby. On the last day of the 2015-16 campaign, May 15, Real travel to Galicia to play Deportivo La Coruna, while Barcelona also finish the season away from home at Granada, who finished 17th in La Liga last season. Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid begin the season at home to Las Palmas and end it at home to Celta Vigo.

Real Betis, Sporting de Gijon and Las Palmas promoted for the first division of La Liga and Las Palmas qualified as winners of play-offs. Eibar will again play this season. Almeria and Cordoba were relegated to 2015-16 Segunda Division last seas, after being two and one years, respectively in La Liga. Sporting Gijon promoted as second qualified on June 7, 2015, after winning 3-0 over Real Betis.
